‘’There really is no excuse for cutting a diamond badly’’. I still think of this when I pick up a stone for the first time. The words were impressed upon me by the Master Cutter who taught me diamond polishing.

As a youngster I travelled the world meeting and staying with legends of the diamond industry; Lazare Kaplan, cutter of the world famous Jonker Diamond (726 carats), Harry Winston at his premises in New York. Such people inspired, both with their enthusiasm for the beauty of diamonds and focussed the mind with vast knowledge of the product.

After many years spent cutting and polishing diamonds both in Belgium and London, Martin Dimond formed his own business in 1989, building a reputation for dealing in stones of cutting excellence backed by a total in depth knowledge of the product.

I am ever mindful that these enigmatic stones are many millions of years old and have been formed under the most dramatic natural processes.  Releasing the true beauty of the diamond lies entirely in the skill of the cutter’s hand.
